STREET N’ SPORTS – First, could-you introduce yourself in a few words?
FELIX SANDMAN – Um, my name is Felix Sandman, and I’m a musician, artist, songwriter, actor. And I’m from Sweden, I’m 20 years old. And, uh, yeah.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Tout d’abord, pourriez-vous vous présenter en quelques mots?
FELIX SANDMAN – Mon nom est Félix Sandman et je suis musicien, artiste, auteur compositeur, acteur. Et je suis de Suède. J’ai 20 ans. Et voilà.

STREET N’ SPORTS – How long have you been in music?
FELIX SANDMAN – I would say I’ve been in music my whole life. Not that my parents did music, but my mom has always been creative. She’s an artist, she’s a painter and also does a lot of other art stuff. And my dad actually played in a band when he was younger. But I’ve been in music since 4 years old, I would say, because I had like drums at home and like a synth and a piano, and I always used to play stuff. But then I started dancing when I was 4 years old and that was my, I would say my way into music, because you need music to dance and I started dancing and then I started singing and acting in the same, at this like musical school kind of. So it was acting, dancing and singing. So I would say that was my way into music, when I was 4 years old.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Depuis combien de temps êtes-vous dans la musique?
FELIX SANDMAN – Je dirais que je suis dans la musique depuis toujours. Mes parents ne jouaient pas spécialement de la musique mais ma mère a toujours été créative. Elle est artiste, elle est peintre, et elle est très active dans le domaine de l’art. Et mon père a joué dans un groupe quand il était jeune. Mais j’ai vraiment démarré dans la musique à mes 4 ans je dirais, parce que j’aimais jouer de la batterie à la maison ainsi que du synthé et du piano, j’ai toujours joué de quelque chose. J’ai également commencé à danser quand j’avais 4 ans et j’ai chanté et joué durant cette période, à l’école de musique. J’ai joué, dansé et chanté. Aussi, j’aimerais dire que j’ai trouvé ma voie dans la musique quand j’ai eu 4 ans.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Have you always wanted to become a singer?
FELIX SANDMAN – I think I’ve always wanted to be an entertainer in some way. So I think yeah, I’ve always had dreams within like being an artist, some ko way, being an entertainer. But I wouldn’t say when I was like little, I wouldn’t say I had like a plan, I just did what I loved to do and I saw where that took me and it took me here, and I’m really happy with where I am now, and now my goals and my yeah, I see my future a bit more clearer and what I want to do with my career and everything. So, yeah.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Avez-vous toujours voulu devenir chanteur?
FELIX SANDMAN – Je pense que j’ai toujours voulu être un artiste d’une certaine manière. Donc, je pense que oui, j’ai toujours rêvé d’être un artiste, ou tout au moins d’être dans le divertissement. Je ne dis pas que quand j’étais petit, j’avais un plan, je faisais ce que j’aimais faire mais je vois où cela m’a emmené et m’a conduit. Je suis vraiment heureux d’être là où j’en suis maintenant et mes objectifs, oui, mon avenir, semblent un peu plus clair, et je vois mieux ce que je veux faire de ma carrière et tout le reste. Donc voilà. 

STREET N’ SPORTS – From 2013 to 2017 you were part of the group FO & O, can you talk a bit more about this?
FELIX SANDMAN – Yeah, so that was how my artist/music career started professionally. In 2013 when I got put together in this band, and it all happened really fast, we started going out on the streets, shooting music videos, putting them on YouTube, and we opened up for Justin Bieber when he was here in Sweden, and after that – that was like our first gig, opening up for him, and then it all just happened really fast, and two years later we sold out the venue that he played for ourselves and had our own opening act. So that was really epic, and that was really – I’m really happy with that start in my career, because I’ve changed a lot, that’s because I’ve learned a lot through that journey, and I’m really grateful to have that journey behind me. And we had amazing couple of years, and now I’ve reached a point of like really knowing what I want to do with music and yeah, so I’m really thankful for the FO & O days, because I learned a lot, I got to see a lot of things, we went around the world, we toured in the US and we went to Latin America and all that stuff, so it’s been amazing and I’m really thankful for it.

STREET N’ SPORTS – De 2013 à 2017, vous avez fait partie du groupe FO & O, pouvez-vous en parler un peu plus?
FELIX SANDMAN – Oui, c’est comme cela que ma carrière d’artiste et de musicien a débuté professionnellement. En 2013, lorsque je me suis retrouvé dans ce groupe, tout est allé très vite, nous avons commencé à sortir dans la rue, à enregistrer des vidéos musicales et à les diffuser sur YouTube, et nous avons été en ouverture de Justin Bieber au moment où il était en Suède, et après cela … après notre premier concert d’ouverture pour lui, tout a été très vite, et deux ans plus tard, nous avons fait complet dans la salle même où il avait joué et où nous étions en première partie. 

C’était épique, vraiment.  Je suis vraiment content de ce début de carrière car j’ai beaucoup changé, beaucoup appris tout au long de mon parcours, et je suis très content d’avoir ce vécu. Nous avons passé des années formidables et j’ai fini par savoir ce que je veux faire dans la musique et oui alors je suis vraiment reconnaissant à FO&O car j’ai beaucoup appris. Nous avons eu l’occasion de voir beaucoup de choses, nous avons parcouru le monde, fait des tournées aux Etats-Unis, puis en Amérique Latine, et ainsi de suite. C’est incroyable, je suis vraiment reconnaissant pour tout cela.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Now you’re in the limelight with your Something Right music video, what’s talk about song?
FELIX SANDMAN – I love the song, it’s really like starting off the summer vibes, we’re starting to get summer in Sweden and I think the song is really good for summer, and it’s really dance-y and sick, I love the song and the music video is kind of like just a casual performance of me singing the song and just like giving people a vibe. And I hear people love it, so that’s great, and I’m excited to play it live for people.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Maintenant, vous êtes sous les feux de la rampe avec votre clip vidéo Something Right, que pouvez-vous nous dire dessus ?
FELIX SANDMAN – J’aime cette chanson, c’est vraiment comme si débutait l’ambiance estivale, l’été est sur le point d’arriver en Suède et je pense que la chanson est vraiment bonne pour l’été, et qu’elle est dansante et plaisante. J’aime la chanson, et le clip est l’occasion d’une performance pour moi, de chanter le morceau et de mettre les gens dans l’ambiance. Et j’entends les gens l’adorer, alors c’est génial, et je suis ravi de le jouer en « live » pour eux.

STREET N’ SPORTS – You often work with Benjamin Ingrosso, how your collaboration came about?
FELIX SANDMAN – Yeah, me and Benjamin have been friends since we were like 10, 11 years old. We started off, we played in a musical when we were 10, and that’s when we got to know each other. And then we’ve just known each other for a couple of years, then he got signed to the same label as I am and yeah, then we just started to hang out more, then Melodifestivalen happened and we were both in it, and then we got to really like work with the same people and like really close and we supported each other and after that it just happened naturally, it’s never been a plan about like a collab, it’s just like us being good friends and we put out a song together and that was the song that I just had loved for a couple of years that he wrote a couple of years back, and then I said I should put a verse on this, 

And so I did and we just put it out because we loved it, and then we both had put out an album and wanted to go on tour, so he wanted to go on tour and I wanted to go on tour and so we said like we should go together because it’ll be an epic experience for the fans and for the people going to the shows to see both of us doing our own things but also like playing the song we had together and  now we also put out another song that we did, me and Benjamin just had our first session ever writing session and then we wrote a song and we really loved it, and that’s just why our collaboration just keeps coming out because we just love the songs and so we put them out and we don’t think about it too much. But, so, there’s never been like a plan for it, so we’ll see what happens in the future, but, yeah, we’re good friends.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Vous travaillez souvent avec Benjamin Ingrosso, comment est née votre collaboration?
FELIX SANDMAN – Oui, Benjamin et moi sommes amis depuis l’âge de 10 ou 11 ans. Nous avons commencé à jouer dans une comédie musicale à l’âge de 10 ans et c’est à ce moment-là que nous nous sommes connus. Et puis, nous nous sommes retrouvés plus souvent, il y a quelques années. Il a été signé sur le même label que moi et on a passé plus de temps ensemble. Melodifestivalen est arrivé et on était tous les deux dedans. Nous avons vraiment aimé travailler avec les mêmes personnes, ce qui nous a rapproché. Nous nous sommes soutenus et c’est ainsi que c’est arrivé naturellement. Ça n’a jamais été un plan comme une collab, c’est comme si nous étions de bons amis et que nous décidions de sortir une chanson ensemble, et il se trouve que c’était le morceau que j’avais aimé et qu’il avait écrit, il y a quelques années, je lui ai alors proposé de mettre un couplet. 

C’est alors ce que j’ai fait et naturellement nous l’avons publiée parce que nous aimions le résultat. Nous avions envie tous les deux de sortir un album et de partir en tournée. Il voulait partir en tournée, je le voulais aussi, alors nous nous sommes dits que nous devions le faire ensemble car ce serait une expérience formidable pour les fans et les gens qui assistent à nos shows. Nous voir tous les deux faire nos propres choses mais aussi, jouer ensemble une chanson. Maintenant, nous avons une nouvelle chanson à offrir, que nous avons travaillé. Benjamin et moi avons eu notre première session d’écriture ensemble, et avons écrit une chanson que nous avons tous les deux apprécié. C’est la raison pour laquelle notre collaboration continue parce que nous aimons juste faire des chansons et les sortir, sans trop penser au reste. Comme il n’y a jamais eu vraiment de plan, on verra bien ce qui se passera dans le futur, mais en tout cas, oui, nous sommes de bons amis.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Do you have projects together? And you, solo projects in mind?
FELIX SANDMAN – We have toured together and we had put out some songs together, but we’re not going to be like a duo or something, we’re still our own, like we have our solo projects and we put out a lot of our own songs and we both put out like solo albums so we’re not connected in that way, we’re just good friends doing some songs together and touring together, but we still have our own things, yeah.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Avez-vous des projets ensemble? Et en solo ?
FELIX SANDMAN – Nous avons tourné ensemble et sorti quelques chansons, mais nous ne sommes pas pour autant un duo ou quelque chose comme ça, nous suivons toujours notre propre voie, comme nous avons nos propres projets, on sort nos chansons et nous avons tous les deux des albums solos. Nous ne sommes pas connectés ou quelque chose comme ça, nous sommes juste de bons amis qui chantent quelques chansons ensemble et qui tournent ensemble, mais nous avons toujours notre propre parcours, oui.

STREET N’ SPORTS – You are also an actor, especially in the Quicksand series where you play the role of Sebastian. How was your collaboration with Netflix?
FELIX SANDMAN – It was amazing! Netflix is amazing and FLX, the production company is amazing as well. I had a really good time shooting Quicksand for Netflix. It was crazy, I felt like being like a tourist, like seeing how it is on set like with a big production, I felt like yeah, just seeing that and learning all the stuff like how it happens, but also got to being in the story, in the series, that was a big, yeah, that was amazing, and I’m so thankful that I got the role and that Quicksand got so big and that people liked it, so that was amazing. And uh yeah, I loved it. 

STREET N’ SPORTS – Vous êtes également un acteur, en particulier dans la série Quicksand où vous jouez le rôle de Sebastian. Comment s’est passée votre collaboration avec Netflix?
FELIX SANDMAN – C’était incroyable ! Netflix est incroyable et FLX, la société de production, est également incroyable. J’ai passé un très bon moment à tourner dans Quicksand pour Netflix.  C’était fou, j’avais l’impression d’être comme un touriste. De voir comment ça se passe sur un plateau avec une grosse production, j’avais envie de voir ça et d’apprendre tous ces trucs comme, comment ça se déroule, mais aussi, d’être dans l’histoire, dans la série, c’était génial, ouais, c’était incroyable et je suis tellement reconnaissant d’avoir eu le rôle, que Quicksand soit devenu aussi populaire et que les gens l’aient aimé, c’était incroyable. Oui, j’ai adoré.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Not too hard to play a « bad » character?
FELIX SANDMAN – It was hard, yeah, it was really challenging, because I had to be, Sebastian was on drugs a lot of times in a lot of scenes, and also he was drunk and all that stuff and  I thought that was really hard to play because you want to keep it subtle but not, yeah, you don’t want to overplay it ko. And also there’s a lot of scenes that are really heavy subjects and really emotional and so that was really hard, and it felt really real, because I think the goal with Quicksand was that it should not look like good or like too – I don’t know, it shouldn’t look too much, it should just look real, and all these heavy subjects has to be like realistic and – so it was hard, but it was fun, it was a challenge.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Pas trop difficile de jouer un « mauvais » personnage?
FELIX SANDMAN – C’était difficile, oui, ce que je devais être, c’était vraiment un défi. Sébastien était drogué dans beaucoup de scènes, et il était saoul aussi, et je pense que ce fut vraiment difficile à jouer parce que je voulais rester réaliste, ne surtout pas surjouer. Il y a beaucoup de scènes, où les sujets sont lourds et chargés en émotion, donc c’était vraiment difficile, et très réaliste, parce que je pense que le but avec Quicksand, était que ça ne devait pas avoir l’air seulement juste ou trop bon. Ça ne devait pas être excessif, ça devait juste avoir l’air réel, et tous ces sujets lourds devaient être réalistes. Oui, c’était difficile, mais c’était plaisant aussi, un sacré challenge.

STREET N’ SPORTS – What’s your breaking news? Do you have some shows already scheduled?
FELIX SANDMAN – I have some, I’m actually right now, today when I’m doing this interview, I’m actually playing a show in Stockholm in Sweden tonight, it’s actually going to be super fun, yeah, it’s at a venue that’s really iconic, so I’m really happy for that. And I also have a couple of more gigs and a lot of new music that’s coming out soon and working towards an album. So you guys can look forward to that. And also I’m doing a part, a role in the first Norwegian Netflix original actually, it’s the same director as Quicksand, we’re doing the Norwegian Netflix original, so he asked me if I wanted to do a role in that series. So, I’m really excited for that as well, it’s coming out around Christmas.

STREET N’ SPORTS – Quelles sont vos actus ? Avez-vous des concerts déjà programmés?
FELIX SANDMAN – J’en ai, je suis, le jour où je fais cette interview, en concert le soir même à Stockholm. Ça va être très cool, oui, dans un lieu vraiment emblématique, donc, je suis excité à l’idée de faire ça. Et j’ai aussi quelques autres concerts, beaucoup de nouveaux morceaux qui vont bientôt sortir, et je travaille sur un nouvel album. Voici ce à quoi les gars vous pouvez vous attendre. Et puis j’ai un rôle, un rôle dans un nouveau Netflix Original norvégien. En fait, c’est le même réalisateur que Quicksand qui travaille sur cette production. Il m’a alors demandé, si je voulais avoir un rôle dans cette série. Je suis très excité par ce projet, qui devrait sortir aux alentours de Noël.

STREET N’ SPORTS – A last word for your French fans?
FELIX SANDMAN – Well, thank you so much for supporting from France. I want to come soon, hopefully play a show there soon. So, just wait for me, thank you so much for your support, thank you so much for everything, I hope to give it all back soon with a show and to meet my French fans. Yeah, take care, bye!
